How to Sell Loose Diamonds

Diamonds have been around for years; in fact they have been around for approximately 6,000 years and were once used in Ancient India for religious icons and have been treasured every since. It has always been said that diamonds are girl’s best friend and that still holds true. Diamonds are a precious gemstone and the only stone to stay as strong and durable as it does all its life. Diamonds won’t scratch or break which makes them irresistible to women and loved when it comes to engagement rings.

When choosing to sell diamonds either by way of running your own business or just getting rid of older jewelry you will find that it can be a great business to get into, it is a very competitive business as well. If you are a salesperson by nature and you love gemstones then it could be a perfect career for you. First and foremost however you will need a jeweler license to sell diamonds. Once you have obtained that you will then need to get a business license from the state in which you live in. If you are looking to sell your diamonds one time only and no longer want to sell them afterward than you may not need to aquire these licenses.

However, if you are looking to start your own business selling diamonds you will want to know everything you can about how to sell loose diamonds before you start. Your third step after obtaining both licenses is going to be purchasing diamonds from whole-sellers, once you have purchase a good amount of diamonds then it is time to start advertising. To do this you will first want to take a lot of pictures to place as your inventory. Take a picture of every diamond that you are trying to sell. Take a head on picture as well as a side picture. Use different lighting and make sure the diamond has no smudges or fingerprints to make it duller than it should be. Tip: Use black velvet as your background when taking pictures, it will add to the color of the diamond and make it shine more.

After you have taken pictures you will want to build a website to place those pictures on to build a list of clients. The best thing you can do for your business is to advertise. You can place advertisements up on other websites such as wedding sites or even other jewelry sites to get your diamonds to more consumers.

As you are building your list of clients make sure you offer something that other jewelry businesses do not have such as multiple sizes shapes and even colors. All of your diamonds should be marked with as much information to draw a customer in so that they will want to buy it. So include the important 4 C’s of diamonds clarity, color, carat and cut. When you do get customers coming in to buy your diamonds do not charge for shipping, that way your customers will keep coming back to you.

    Hi, I have a small Coal Miners Diamond and a Frosty Diamond and a Nice Heart Shaped Gem “Naturally Found In The Ground , here in Mishawaka IN. I was wondering if you could give me a dollar value these would be worth a piece.
