Diamonds have been valued as treasure since ancient times; they have been crafted into beautiful and wonderful pieces and make the perfect engagement rings. While it is true that they are still after all these years a girl’s best friend, they are also unique in other ways as well such as in investing.

It is a world built off investments, the more investments you have the better your future will be. In today’s world more than not people have investments in stocks and bonds; did you know though that investing in diamonds is as financial setting as investing in stocks and bonds themselves? It’s true.

If you can wrap your hand around some diamonds you should certainly keep a hold of them and invest as much as you can in them. The Diamond Protection Service who are a division of De beers Limited own 80 percent of the diamonds that are produced in the world. Between the years of 1980-1990 statistics proved that the value of diamonds went up by 70 percent. Since the 19th century the popularity of diamonds has certainly been on the rise and they are becoming more popular even today.

Investing in loose diamonds if very good business, it is very lucrative as well. Approximately 20 percent of all the diamonds which are mined are made into jewelry and the other 80 percent is made into other items used for industrial purposes such as surgical equipment, lasers and drill parts.

Right now princess cut diamonds are the diamond of choice and they are becoming more popular in a heart shape for engagement rings. Through-out years and years of engagements however the diamond itself has been chose more often than any other gem which means there will always be a need for diamonds and it would be wise to get a hand on them to secure a great future.

Selling loose diamonds is also a very good business, you can buy a whole bunch of diamonds from wholesale jewelry stores and sell them just as they are for investment purposes or you can also take classes on how to set diamonds into necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings so that you can make extra money through selling diamond jewelry. Make sure though no matter if you are selling loose diamonds or making jewelry to sell that you set up a website for more clientele, you can use a black velvet dropping as a background for these diamonds to help show off their gorgeous shine which will produce more customers.

It does not matter whether or not you are planning to sell them or invest in them diamonds are certainly the way to go. So buy a stock of them today.

More people than ever before are buying jewelry online and the purchase of diamonds online has grown substantially. Why? Because consumers and businesses are realizes that purchasing online saves a lot of money and still delivers high quality items. Let’s take a look at girl’s best friend: the diamond and princess cut loose diamonds in particular. While there are many popular cuts to a diamond, the princess cut is one of the most popular. By following a few guidelines, you will find that buying princess cut loose diamonds via the Internet can offer you substantial savings and give you those quality diamonds that you are looking for.

A princess cut diamond is that which is cut into a square in such a way as to maximize shine and brilliance. If you are looking for princess cut loose diamonds and are planning to have a this type of diamond set, do keep in mind that the acceptable and proper setting will protect the four pointed corners of the diamond. The reason for this is that if not protected those points are likely to chip. In many cases princess cut and other rectangular or square cuts have cropped corners. The settings should be four pronged settings.

Diamonds will always be treasured and always be valuable. How can you obtain princess cut loose diamonds and know that you have excellent quality and have received a fantastic deal? Just follow these below guidelines.

While this particular cut does not show any diamond flaws as easily as other cuts you will want to keep five elements in mind when purchasing princess cut loose diamonds: carat, color, clarity, cut and certified. Since you probably have already chosen your cut, the princess cut, we can go on to discuss the other elements.

Carat refers to the size. Some people wish to choose a smaller size with a high quality instead of a larger size with a lower quality. This is something that each person must decide. Taking a look at color, while just about everyone associates a diamond with a crystal white color, it can actually be found in many colors. While there are rare blue, red and even black diamonds, most consumers are looking for the classic diamond color. Princess cut diamonds and any other cut for that matter, lose quality if the gem has a yellow tint. It is a carbon flaw which can cause the yellow tinting. It is recommended to go for a smaller size and have a pure transparent diamond than to go for a larger size which is yellowed.

Clarity is the term used to describe the absence or the presence of any flaws in the diamond. In many cases, flaws can be so tiny that they can only be seen under a microscope. Certified is the fifth “C” that is not always mentioned but is very important. Be sure that your princess cut loose diamonds come with a certificate which shows that they have be certified from a lab such as the American Gem Society, the Gemological Institute of America, the Belgian Institute (HRD) or the European Gemological Lab. This will give you proof that your diamond is indeed a real, certified diamond.

Think about buying your princess cut loose diamonds online, as this almost always saves money. Online stores do not have overhead, such as electricity bills, paying employees and lease on a physical store. For this reason, most reputable online diamond dealers can offer you princess cut loose diamonds at reduced prices over what you would find in person.

Small loose diamonds can have more than one dozen different shapes. The following article mentions some of the more common shapes. It does not mention the small diamonds that jewelers refer to as princess diamonds, bulett diamonds, radiant diamonds or baguette diamonds. Moreover, there is no reference to emerald cut diamonds in the article found below. Any of those diamonds can have clarity and polish as great as, or greater, than the clarity and polish on any of the certified and geometrically shaped diamonds mentioned in the following article. In addition, any of those diamonds can have a carat weight that lifts it into the category of top quality diamonds.

Small Loose Diamonds

Whenever an expert jeweler cuts into a large diamond, that professional jeweler adds to the existing supply of small, loose diamonds. The law of supply and demand plays a part in determining the value for each single diamond. Yet the value, quality and price of loose diamonds depend, as well, on a number of other factors.

Anyone who plans to shop for small, loose diamonds needs to become familiar with each of the variables that factor into the determination of a diamond’s worth. Anyone who expects to pay a fair and reasonable price for a group of loose diamonds needs to learn both the aforementioned variables and the technical terms used to describe each variable.

Once a jeweler receives a shipment of loose diamonds, that jeweler then studies the information in the most recent diamond grading report. The information in that report uncovers details relating to the market price index for small and large diamonds. That index makes clear the specific value of a certified loose diamond, based on a number of important features.

When examining a loose diamond, a jeweler looks first at the optical properties possessed by that diamond. The cut of each diamond confers on that stone its unique optical properties. A diamond can be cut to resemble a kite, a circle, an oval, a trapezoid, a pear, a heart, a half moon or other geometric or natural shape. That shape directs the path of refracted light, once a beam of light has entered a cut diamond. That shape underlies the beauty that the human eye can find in a single diamond.

In addition to cut, four features, each beginning with the letter “C” determine the quality and value of a loose diamond. Those three additional features are color, clarity, and carat weight. Diamonds of the highest quality lack any definite color. Diamonds of the highest quality do not contain a large number of inclusions, especially inclusions that can detract from the clarity of the light coming off of a given diamond.

Before setting the price for a certified cut diamond, a jeweler must look at more than the four features mentioned above. The jeweler must also study the symmetry of the design, as displayed on the face of the diamond. The jeweler grades that symmetry as excellent, very good, good, fair or poor.

The jeweler also notes the quality of the polish on any certified cut diamond. Once again, the jeweler grades the diamond, but this time that grade is based on the quality of the diamond’s polish.

Only after a jeweler has studied carefully all the amazing features of a cut diamond, is it possible for that gemstone expert to arrive at a reasonable and fair selling price for any given diamond.

In doing the needed research on the history of jewelry, the writer of the following article was pleased to note mention of jewelry in ancient Persia. In the past, the same writer had given a number of presentations about the Persian New Year. The writer was already familiar with the degree to which the history of jewelry coincided with the emergence of that ancient holiday. When the Persians came to Persepolis, the site of the New Year celebration, they brought with them gifts for their ruler. Gorgeous pieces of gold and silver jewelry were most certainly found among those gifts.

Antique Jewelry Collection

The initial saga in the early history of jewelry makes no mention of the metal that is found in present-day jewelry. The very first pieces of jewelry were made of objects that were familiar to Stone Age men. Such men liked to wear necklaces made out of animal bones and animal teeth.

By wearing such a necklace, a man could show-off the number of animals that he had killed. Over time, some Stone Age “medicine men” claimed that certain pieces of jewelry delivered great healing powers. They allowed the history of jewelry to link the wearing of adornments with superstitious beliefs about the shooing away of evil spirits.

As mankind emerged from the Stone Age, the Babylonian civilization welded its influence on ancient peoples. Some skilled members of the Babylonian society discovered how to heat and mold gold, causing it to form all sorts of attractive shapes. They thus moved the world into the nest stage, a stage along the history of jewelry.

The Babylonians did not manage to put a lock on their knowledge about shaping gold. Trade with Egypt soon brought beautiful gold jewelry to that growing civilization. The pharaohs welcomed the beautiful ornaments, using them as a way to express the superiority of the Egyptian ruling class.

Egyptian jewelers perfected the techniques introduced by the Babylonians. They learned how to cut both semiprecious and precious stones. As Egyptians traveled to Nubian and other gem-rich areas, Egyptian jewelers gained more and more stones, stones that could be added to their gold jewelry.

Egyptian traders also brought back samples of silver. Soon the history of jewelry included information about two very eye-catching metals. As the Egyptian jewelers prepared the silver and gold crowns, rings and necklaces that would go on the Pharaohs, the jewelers in another ancient civilization were equally busy.

Persian jewelers made ornaments in the shape of Ahuramazda, the god of Zoroaster. That winged creature represented the god worshiped by the Persians, members of a Zoroastrian society. Students of jewelry history know that the Persians prized metallic depictions of their god. They wore such depictions on a Farvehar pendant. Persians respected the work of the religiously inspired jewelers.

Of course the Persian jewelers did not spend all of their time making such pendants. They also took gold and silver and shaped it into objects that looked exactly like a small chariot. The Persian kings rode chariots to victory, and objects shaped like a chariot came to represent power. A piece of jewelry that looked like a chariot became a much-desired possession among the ancient Persians.

After Alexander the Great marched into Persia, he set fire to Persepolis. Later, Alexander and his soldiers carried-off a lot of the gorgeous gold and silver Persian jewels…
